Friends of Redwood City give in to Cargill plans

I knew that sanity would have to reign in the Cargill debate here in Redwood City. Today I received a big, fat, expensive four-color brochure from the Friends of Redwood City urging immediate restoration of wetlands around San Francisco Bay, specifically mentioning the Cargill plans.

You see, if Cargill gets what they are hoping for (and we will see their plans in the next couple of weeks I'm told) then we will actually see the restoration of 700 acres of wetlands restored right hear in Redwood City within the next decade, LONG before 100 acres of the Bair Island site will be finished and MUCH longer before ANY of the 40,000 acres Cargill has already deeded over to the government for restoration will begin. The Cargill restoration, completely funded by Cargill will be one of the largest privately funded restoration projects in the Bay Area, if not the largest, and will be done in record time.

That's what I get out of the Friends of Redwood City flyer. They must want to see our local wetlands restored quickly. Right? They couldn't possible want to delay the vital restoration process. Could they?

Nah, that would be crazy.

FIGHT GLOBAL WARMING, SUPPORT THE CARGILL DEVELOPMENT!
